New preclinical data evaluating the NowCath Foley catheter were presented by Steven Kaplan, MD, at the American Urological Association Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
The study compared nine NowCath Foley catheters with nine conventional all-silicone Foley catheters in a validated glass-bladder model inoculated with Proteus mirabilis.

The findings demonstrate the potential of improved bladder drainage to address residual urine, biofilm formation and catheter blockage. As these results are preclinical, clinical studies are required to evaluate performance in patients.
We thank Steven Kaplan, Professor Marcus Drake, Nicola Morris, Ingrid Lönnstedt and the teams at Bristol Urological Institute and Mount Sinai Health System for their contributions.
